The Phoenix

Hunted to extinction in the British Isles by the early 20th century, the magnificent White Tailed Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) is a Scottish conservation success story. Young eagles were reintroduced from Norway in the mid 1980s to the Fair Isle and Rum and later into Wester Ross. There are almost 100 breeding pairs today and are doing especially well in the Hebrides, like here near Loch Druidibeg, South Uist.
