The Colony
A aerial view of penguins in the antarctic perhaps?
It's actually a colony of guillemots on a sea stack off St Abbs Head, Berwickshire, Scotland.
St Abbs is a dramatic coastal headland that offer excellent views of seabirds clinging to cliffs and stacks below. To anyone familiar with this location, my favourite spot is close to the nunnery.
The scale of this colony is breathtaking, with 35,000 guillemots and razorbills nesting on the cliffs from May to July.
