The Maid Of The Loch
Maid of the Loch steamship, Loch Lomond, Scotland.
The clouds give a vision of this steamship making sail once more... The Maid of the Loch was the last paddle steamer built in Glasgow. She was built in 1953 and cruised up and down Loch Lomond until 1981 when diesel craft finally took over. Today she is a visitor attraction awaiting full restoration, which seems just a matter of time. I met a nice chap called Lachie Stewart when taking this shot. A gold medal winning runner in his youth, he now builds model replicas, including one he made for this ship, which can be seen in the cafe. The passion for these beautiful craft endures.
